Starr Garden Recreation Center is located at 6th and Lombard in Philadelphia. Starr Garden has a hard working kiln that is relied on by many different programs.

The kiln is currently in need of some major repairs, so we aew raffling off a spot in our Summer 2025 class session to help cover these costs, so the kiln can continue to be a part of offering low and no cost clay classes to the community.

In this fun and intensive summer camp, we will explore all that clay and art has to offer! Taught by experienced instructors, small classes of 12 or less mean campers get one-on-one attention for their art projects!

Black Hound Summer Art Camp is for Ages 6 - 12 (must be entering First Grade in Fall 2025).

No clay or art experience is required - each session features unique projects and activities.

Grab your besties, lovers or family members to attend this fun experience-based workshop. Each person will have the chance to try their hand at making some simple bowls or cups on the wheel, and then will select their best 2 pieces to be fired. Choose from Black Hound's colorful palette of glazes and we will fire your pieces for you. Work will be ready to pick up at the studio in 3-4 weeks.

From planters to mugs to bowls, each class lasts 2 hours and has easy step by step instructions designed for beginners who have never touched clay before. Your project is then fired and glazed for you by BHCS staff and available for pick up at the studio in 3-4 weeks. We are excited to offer these workshops with sliding scale pricing to create greater accessibility for our programming.
